Hello to my distant youth...
You really weren't a hellion but you worried me still
Way too much time on pondering fate
When you'd barely been kissed or had pissed in the lake
You looked at the world saw the mud on it's face
Loving the Brits but lamenting the States
Drunk on orange juice and cold black tea
Eating ramen noodles at near light speed
No time for Questions
There's no time to think
Hello to my distant youth...
The world got darker when you questioned your place
Singing along to the Smiths on cassette
Driving in Boston which I'll never forget
Then out in the world on your own so to speak
Up in Seattle looked at Rainier's peak
Struggled along for a year and a day
Barely food to eat next to nothing for pay
No time for Questions
There's no time to think
What did you want to say?
Think I wasn't listening
I know you suffered in your day
There's time a plenty for you still
Hello to my distant youth...
Clouds in your vision and darts on your tongue
You never quite saw what you had on your plate
Always were searching for a better debate
Tried and true you've got a noble heart
You hung on in instead of falling apart
Despite some bumps on a dark highway
Dug your heels in, soon were made in the shade
