lyrics

Here to Stay

The sky got dark quick like a magic trick
But the rain didn’t come we were used to it
Worn out barren lands and these idle men
It’s the history itself we’re beat down again

When the clouds moved away I watched a plane
Wished I could lasso that thing but I’m here to stay
How did you break free from all this misery
Do you think of us here while you’re off in the city

Remember when we were kids
All the stupid shit we did
And the trouble that swirled around our heads
Drunk on stolen beer
We thought we’d disappear
And the promises of what would lie ahead

It’s worse than you remember it’s not getting better
The frost comes on early mid to late September
I drive my daddy’s truck pretend that I’m not stuck
That the weather or time will somehow change my luck

I wish away the seasons hope the next will be decent
But my needs are like leaves that blow away without reason
Sometimes when it’s dark I’ll pass your family farm
Watch from in the cab wait out the passing storm

Remember when we were kids
All the stupid shit we did
And the trouble that swirled around our heads
Drunk on stolen beer
We thought we’d disappear
And the promises of what would lie ahead
